It’s an incredible moment when you find your sweetheart; that person you want to spend forever with. Today, because we’re all about celebrating love, we’re celebrating the success story of Junior and Kristina.
Their Plenty of Fish meeting:
Junior and Kristina first became members of the online dating site Plenty of Fish. Kristina remembers seeing Junior’s profile, messaging him and the rest is history. A few messages back and forth turned into texting and eventually they decided to meet. Junior recalls sitting on the park bench, in False Creek, glancing up every time someone walked by him until that moment he saw Kristina walking towards him on the boardwalk. Life stood still and in that moment he knew he was going to fall madly in love with her. And he did!
How he asked:
When Junior contacted us for his marriage proposal, he knew he wanted the wow factor. He wanted to completely surprise Kristina but knew he needed help in the planning and execution of it all. In the past, Junior had planned many incredible birthday celebrations and date nights. This time he wanted to make that lasting impression! He wanted Kristina to feel special and loved all day and he didn’t want to feel stressed or nervous about creating that perfect moment. That’s where we came in!
While scouring the area for that perfect location, we stumbled upon this private corner of the seawall with a beautiful view of False Creek and Vancouver’s Cambie Street Bridge. It was the perfect spot to pop the question because of their first date and the many memories it held.
We wanted to add personal touches from their relationship and knew that we wanted to include some of their early messages from meeting on POF. We were unable to retrieve the exact messages but Junior shared his favourite memories and feelings from those early days. The Proposal Plan began with brunch followed by a spa visit and then dinner plans at the restaurant where they shared one of their first anniversaries.
Kristina thought she was just going to dinner but when Junior decided to make a small detour she just grabbed his hand and went with it. A path lined with candlelight, wooden signs and personalized details led them through a timeline of their love story. It was the ultimate surprise Junior was hoping for. Infront of a white linen curtain, Junior got down on one knee, asked those four little words and Kristina smiled and nodded her head. They were engaged!
Later that evening, the couple celebrated with a beautiful dinner at Lupo, where a letter from his daughter was waiting for Kristina, welcoming her into the family. It was a heartfelt idea that reminded me that this moment wasn’t only about the two of them but it was about becoming a family. Wishing these two an incredible engagement and wedding planning process ahead.
Words from Junior:
“I knew I was going to propose to my girlfriend, but I wasn’t quite sure how or what I was going to do. I found their services on the internet and called and then met Stephanie for coffee a few days later. My biggest struggle was putting together my ideas into one solid proposal. Meeting Stephanie I instantly knew that I was in good hands. I felt she understood the importance of this day and she was genuine in her desire to make it special.
I worked hands on with Beth Barr, who is truly amazing and talented. She answered all my question and concerns. Beth was exceptionally professional with all my constant questions and answered my emails in a timely fashion. She made it all come together! The delight was knowing Beth and Stephanie were invested in the experience as was I. One example is that they knew we met on POF and tried to retrieve our conversation. They couldn’t, but got us matching POF shirts!!
The crew at Sweetheart Events are very professional, responsive and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone who wants to create a special moment. “
